Give peace a chance

Fast-growing Peace Recruitment aims to be the No.1 recruitment firm in Scotland for the construction, property and engineering sectors

Peace Recruitment has transformed itself from a ‘one-man-band’ into a multi-million pound company in just over six years. It now aims to be the company of choice in Scotland for the construction, property and engineering sectors within the next 5 years.

Peace Recruitment has been built on being different. The company’s ethos is centred on providing specialist expert advice, combined with prioritising exceptional customer service ahead of sales targets and key performance indicators (KPI’s). It places a high emphasis on honesty and transparency at all times, even if it’s something the client does not want to hear. Feedback illustrates this is a positive which makes Peace stand out from its competitors. Peace’s team of 14 specialist consultants has an in-depth knowledge of their target markets and cater for all roles from labourers to senior executive positions. There is no hard sell with Peace, rather hard work combined with expert knowledge.

The story so far:

Peace Recruitment, which is based in Edinburgh, started out as a ‘one-man band’ in 2009 when owner Chris Peace gave up his job at a top international recruitment agency to go it alone. Fast-forward to the present day and Peace is now a limited company with a team of 14 expert consultants and a multi-million pound turnover.

How has this been achieved? The simple answer is by offering expert advice in its specialist sectors and by offering exceptional customer service where all staff members will happily go that extra mile for a client.

“In the height of the recession at the beginning of 2009 I saw an opportunity to start a recruitment business where I could establish long term relationships with clients by offering them a value added service, as far as I could see this was not being offered generally across the recruitment industry at that time,” explains Chris Peace, Managing Director of Peace Recruitment.

“I saw the demand was there for specialist recruitment advice for clients working within the ‘built environment’, something which seemed a rarity rather than standard practice within recruitment in Scotland. The driver behind our success has been placing service before sales when dealing with clients. I knew by giving expert advice on a personalised one to one basis would make Peace stand out and cultivate excellent lasting relationships throughout the construction, property and engineering sectors, and I’m pleased to say that our clients seem to agree.”

Why Peace?

There are countless examples on a daily basis proving why Peace’s philosophy of service before sales works. Whether it’s helping a graduate take their first step on the career ladder, or assisting a Scot based in Australia to set-up a job for his return back home, Peace manages the whole process. From matching skills to suitable vacancies; assisting with applications; setting up interviews at suitable times; helping with interview preparation; providing transport to interviews; to the client ultimately receiving numerous job offers. Peace ensures everything runs as smoothly as possible for both the employee and the employer.

Chris adds: “We do as much as we can for clients, and this is why we are getting such a positive name for ourselves in the industry. It’s easy for me to say we don’t just shuffle CV’s around, but we don’t. I believe what sets us apart from other agencies is we actually care about what we are doing, we do not see it as just a job we want to be the best and we want our clients to see us as a trusted consultant that can strategically add value to their recruitment process. This is not just me saying this, this is the feedback we are constantly receiving from clients and candidates who are surveyed on a regular basis in terms of their customer service experience and the consultant they were working with.”

“It’s our aim to be the most highly thought of ‘built environment’ recruitment agency in Scotland in the coming years.”
