The executive search and specialist recruitment group says its northern business has made a record start to the financial year, with Leeds and Manchester supporting its expansion.

Nigel Wright Group says turnover in its northern regional business has risen 13% since the start of May compared with the same period in 2025, as it continues to expand across the North of England.

The executive search and specialist recruitment firm reported ten record months in the past eleven and said regional revenue over the latest twelve months was approaching £10m. The figures are company-reported and relate to different reporting periods.

Specialist recruitment supports regional growth

In the previous full financial year, the business reported net fee income of £8.8m, up 14%. It said executive search activity almost doubled over that year. Net fee income is a separate measure from turnover and should not be treated as interchangeable with it.

The group, which has roots in the North East, has expanded through offices in Leeds and Manchester and recruited experienced consultants to support regional demand.

“This has helped us achieve some of our strongest growth figures to date, with our Manchester and Leeds offices helping to expand our reach across the North.”

Simpson said the firm’s consultants combine regional knowledge with sector and discipline expertise to help employers make hiring decisions.

Expansion beyond the North

Nigel Wright also said its US operation, launched in 2023, quadrupled turnover over the last year, while turnover in its wider European business rose 25% in the current financial year. These are the company’s reported trading figures rather than a measure of recruitment demand across those markets.

Why it matters

The update offers an example of a specialist recruitment business expanding during a difficult trading period for parts of the sector. For agency leaders, the useful question is which regional relationships and areas of expertise are sustaining demand; one company’s results alone do not establish a market-wide recovery.
