BIOR introduces live membership badges linked to public verification

The British Institute of Recruiters has introduced live membership badges that link clients and candidates to a public record of a recruiter’s current membership and certification.

Recruitment clients and candidates can now follow a BIOR membership badge to a public verification record, rather than relying on a static logo on an agency website.

The British Institute of Recruiters says its new badge is drawn from the member’s record when it loads. It displays the membership grade and joining year, links to the verification page and turns grey when membership lapses.

Checking a recruiter’s credentials

Members can add the badge to their website or email signature. Clients and candidates can also search directly by name or membership number at BIOR’s verification service or browse its public directory.

The live record is the important check: a copied image or screenshot alone should not be treated as proof of current membership. BIOR’s announcement says the badge and verification page use the same membership record.

“A client or a candidate can see in one glance whether the membership is current.”

Key facts

  • 2011: BIOR was founded as a professional body for UK recruitment.
  • Five years: certification lasts five years after passing the assessment, according to BIOR.
  • Three badge sizes: the launch provides formats for websites, email signatures and square profile or social uses.

BIOR says its membership includes a certification assessment covering recruitment processes against UK recruitment law and its Code of Professional and Ethical Conduct. Agency Membership covers the business and its recruiters; STAR membership is designed for in-house recruiters.

Key takeaways

  • Agencies can link their public membership claim to a current verification record.
  • Clients and candidates should open the verification page to check both membership and certification status.
  • The badge supports credential checks, rather than replacing wider supplier due diligence.

Why it matters: Recruitment teams assessing suppliers need an easy way to distinguish current credentials from old marketing material. A direct verification link makes that check more practical.
