Recruitment specialist champions temps with awards

Two dedicated temps are the recipients of a monthly Award from The Business Connection

Two dedicated temps are the recipients of a monthly Award from The Business Connection. Chesterís longest established recruitment agency started the Award to recognise the efforts and achievements of temporary employees in their placements. Laura Champion and Clare Booth received the Awards from Managing Director Kirsty Craig at The Business Connectionís Lower Bridge Street offices.

Laura, who is returning to Liverpool University to study for her third Year of a Degree in Marketing, was placed into GMUVS on Chester Business Park at the beginning of July. This is the second year Laura has used The Business Connection. Laura is working as an administrator to pay off her student overdraft and has saved enough money to go on holiday for a week in Tunisia.

Clare was referred to The Business Connection by a friend and was placed into a full-time contract as an administrator in the marketing department of The Bank of America in July. The contract runs to January 2008 and thanks to Clareís hard work and positive attitude there is the possibility of extending it. Clare, who grew up in Dubai, is interested in a possible career in the project management side of marketing.

Kirsty Craig said:

ìTemporary work can be demoralising. If you are placed into an established team it can be hard to fit in and you may feel it is not worth trying quite as hard as you would if it was a permanent position. Clare and Laura are fantastic examples of two temps who put their heart and soul into their work and are rightly being rewarded for it. The Business Connection Award for Temps celebrates outstanding achievement and is a regular monthly fixture.î

Laura Champion, 22, of Rowton, studied at Christleton High School, Chester. Laura said:

ìI canít fault The Business Connection, who make it really easy for me to get work. They offer a very good service and are friendly. The Business Connection likes to keep up-to-date and phone every couple of weeks, so they know if you are available for work and they text or ring you when there is work on offer. The assignment was only supposed to be for a couple of weeks, but I enjoyed it so much I was given an open contract. Companies Iíve worked for through The Business Connection have been really great, with very nice people. GMUVS has been a fantastic place to work.î

Clare Booth, 23, of Great Boughton, graduated with a 2:1 Degree in Politics at Nottingham University in July, after attending Bishopsí Blue Coat High School in Chester. Clare said:

ìI am really impressed by The Business Connection. I have heard some horror stories about agencies, but The Business Connection is really efficient. I went for a detailed interview with Frankie who is lovely and really approachable and would always get back to me with available positions. I had a choice of jobs offered to me. I really wanted to work on the Business Park and The Business Connection has totally fulfilled their brief. The Business Connection is the only agency I went with, which took three weeks from me phoning up to starting the job I wanted.î

The recipients of the Award received a corporate gift and a bottle of wine.
