Commenting on todayís labour market statistics, Ian Brinkley, chief economist at The Work Foundation, said:

ëThe labour market is shrinking. Over the past year there has been almost no growth in employment. Unemployment has only remained stable because more people of working age have given up actively looking for work.

ëAll the current talk of a dynamic economy does not, unfortunately, reach as far as the world of work.í
