Workthing acquires Peoplebank - 12/2001

Workthing, the online employment network from the Guardian Media Group, has acquired PeopleBank.

PeopleBank is a provider of hosted corporate recruitment sites with clients including Tesco, Sainsbury and Nestl. PeopleBank's Application Service Provider (ASP) technology enables businesses to create their own branded, recruitment site. Features include bespoke application forms and tools that allow HR Managers to publish vacancies and to screen and respond to applicants online.

PeopleBank has one of the most comprehensive, searchable CV databases in the UK. Together with the candidate CVs held on Workthing, the combined database will hold over 225,000 records.

Workthing received the number one share of online visits to recruitment sites from July to the end of October (measured by Hitwise*) The acquisition allows recruiters to take advantage of Workthing's reach and job search experience to drive candidates to their hosted corporate recruitment site, or to search through the CV database for the right candidate.

Commenting on the acquisition Andy Baker said, I've been an admirer of Bill and what he and his team have achieved at PeopleBank for some time. They bring incredible amounts of online recruitment vision and experience to Workthing and I look forward to working side-by-side with Bill to develop all the opportunities that this acquisition creates.
