Lucas Group executive diversity career fair a success

Nearly 50 participating companies attend for quality hiring opportunities

Lucas Group, co-hosted its fourth Executive Diversity Career Fair April 28, 2005 at The Embassy Suites in Chicago with The Wall Street Journal and Career Journal Online. Lucas Group is one of the nationís largest executive search firms.



The Executive Diversity Career Fair is the only executive level diversity career fair in the nation. Employer attendance numbers increased 220 percent from last yearís fair in October, and there were more than 900 attending candidates. Some of the participating companies included AON, American Express Financial, Zurich American Insurance Co., SC Johnson, Wachovia, Alliant Energy, RR Donnelly, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 70 percent of new entrants to the workforce by 2008 will be women and people of color. According to projections for years 2002-2012, the number of women in the labor force is expected to grow at a faster rate than men. Additionally, the number of Hispanic or Latino workers is projected to increase by 6 million, which will account for more than one third of the total labor force growth.

The next Executive Diversity Career Fair will be held Nov. 15, 2005 at the Embassy Suites Alexandria, located outside of Washington, D.C.
