jobability.com wins e-Week 2002 award

.

www.jobability.com the online recruitment site aimed at disabled jobseekers has won the e-Week 2002 award for Best Initiative Supporting the Inclusion of Individuals.

With next year being the year of disability, employers now more than ever need to consider equal opportunities, says John Cassidy of jobability.com.

With over 8.5 million disabled people in the UK alone, it is important that companies such as totaljobs.com and Microsoft help this group cross the
digital divide when it comes to finding employment.

To win the award jobability.com had to prove that it is supporting and promoting the use of technology and designing appropriate interfaces for human-computer interaction (particularly for people with special needs such
as the disabled or elderly.)

The European e-Awards (formerly the European Telework awards) are the vehicle for highlighting better practice in a variety of areas relating to the information economy. Since 1997, about 200 examples from industry and
administrations around Europe have been submitted as candidates for the awards and are acknowledged to bring significant benefits to the participants.
Run by totaljobs.com, Microsoft and Leonard Cheshire, jobability.com is committed to helping disabled people overcome difficulties faced in finding employment. It lists vacancies with employers who are committed to providing
equal opportunities. Companies who advertise on the site guarantee to interview any disabled person who applies for a job as long as they meet the person specification.
