SHL announces completion of one million online candidate assessments

SHL provider of solutions for the assessment of individuals' competencies and competency potential, today announced that more than one million online candidate assessments have been completed worldwide since January 2001.

This figure represents the number of candidates who have completed any number of objective measures including screening questionnaires, online random verbal and numeric tests, personality questionnaires (OPQ) and 360 assessments.

The landmark number represents a sea change in the acceptance of online assessment as a reliable HR tool. As the Internet becomes more widely used by HR departments and candidates alike, online assessment techniques are increasingly being recognised as a vital aid to fast and effective selection, particularly bringing objectivity in to play earlier in the recruitment process than is usual with traditional methods.

Andrew Rook, Chief Information and Technology Officer at SHL, commented: This is a true landmark number demonstrating the growing confidence organisations of all sizes are developing in online assessment and its supporting technologies. With HR professionals recognising and experiencing faster and more accurate results to support their decision making I am sure that online assessment will soon become the default method for a majority of organisations.

Online assessment helps organisations achieve cost savings through ensuring only the most suitable candidates go forward to the assessment event and / or interview, which can focus on hiring rather than simply continuing the screening process, and reducing the amount of HR involvement in administrative tasks.
