Top Indian graduates and postgraduates are set to take up exciting internships in UK businesses, following UKIERIís award (www.ukieri.org) of a new three-year contract to managing agent, GTI Recruiting Solutions.
The contract, won through a competitive tendering process, is another big win for GTI Recruiting Solutions. ìWe are pleased to be working with GTI, who were able to clearly demonstrate their ability to deliver an international recruiting solution with the technology too,î says Mike Thornton, UKIERI Operations Manager, at the British Council.
The first Indian talent interns will arrive in the UK in the autumn of this year. Employers will not have to worry about UK Borders Agency administration, accommodation, bank account issues and or even pastoral care. As managing agent, GTI Recruiting Solutions looks after all these aspects and ensures a smooth process for both employers and the Indian graduates alike.
GTI Recruiting Solutions is now working with UK business to secure the placements. Companies taking part will have their pick of high-flyers from the top universities. Interns can be from any degree discipline, and will take up 12- to 50-week, paid internships. The scheme will run until March 2011.
All successful candidates will go through a rigorous competency-based screening process and participate in a two-week orientation at a leading University in the UK, prior to starting work. The induction programme allows the graduates to explore their understanding of business in the UK, as well as touching on cultural differences and how to make the best of their time here.
This new programme sits perfectly alongside the existing government-sponsored China scheme, which brings the brightest future business stars from China to the UK. The objective of both schemes is to increase understanding of each otherís business environments; encourage cultural exchange and thinking at a business level; and also to give UK business the means to source high-flyers for their overseas recruiting pipeline. Many Chinese interns are offered roles in the same businesses, when they return to China. This could be the case with the Indian interns, allowing strategic planning for global production, labour and economic markets.
Paul Clark Director at GTI Recruiting Solutions says, ìWe are extremely pleased and excited to be awarded this new contract. We have worked hard to develop the successful China programme which to date has given over 80 employers the chance to offer Chinaís top graduates internships within their UK offices. This new India programme enables us to draw on our vast experience of international graduate recruitment. We are now looking for UK employers to offer internships and welcome employers of any size and from any sector to discuss this fantastic opportunity to tap into the Indian graduate market for free!
