Guilty pleasures of UK's hibernators revealed

.

Survey uncovers top TV for cold and flu sufferers

One in ten men are avid viewers of TV programme ëLoose Womení when at home with a cold

One in twenty people still manage a night on the town even though they canít make it into work

As a third (32%) of Brits prepare to go into hibernation when this yearís cold and flu season takes hold, new research from Lemsip Max All In One (AIO) Lemon reveals what really goes on once theyíve closed the door behind them at home.

A whopping 7.5 million people across the country are likely to spend more than three days hiding themselves away from the world while they recover from a cold or flu this autumn/winter, and their roads to recovery will be paved with interesting pastimes, according to Lemsip Max AIO Lemonís findings.

Although a third (32%) of Hibernators tend to stay in bed and enjoy sleeping their way through the cold after taking their cold and flu remedy, nearly as many (28%) admit that theyíll relish the opportunity to catch up on daytime TV, although they would never confess this to friends or colleagues.

One in five (22%) take the old saying ëfeed a cold, starve a feverí to heart and admit theyíll be munching their way through large amounts of comfort food in a bid to cheer themselves up, while a further one in five (20%) will spend their time surfing the net.

Other cold and flu Hibernator pastimes include cleaning the house and DIY (10%), and one in twenty (4%) will manage to make it out for a night on the town, even though they canít make it into the office!

With all this activity going on, itís not surprising that more than one in ten (12%) of Hibernators get confused when taking a variety of medicines and lose track of when to take their next dose. Lemsip Max AIO Lemon helps people to avoid this confusion as the new cold and flu remedy features the strongest level of ingredients available over the counter in one product from Lemsip to provide the most complete cold and flu relief.

The new remedy is the only All In One cold and flu product available in a hot drink format ñ perfect comfort for Hibernators snuggling up on the couch under their duvet.

Vishal Kalia at Lemsip Max All In One Lemon, said: ìResearch shows that nearly a quarter of people across the UK (23%) take a variety of remedies to reduce the symptoms of a cold and that many are confused as to what remedies to take and when to take the next dose. In addition, nearly three quarters of people (74%) who suffer from a cold and flu also suffer from a cough ñ a symptom that hasnít traditionally been treated by other cold and flu remedies in a hot drink format.

ìLemsip Max All In One Lemon is a powerful treatment providing comprehensive relief as it contains all the ingredients needed to treat all major symptoms, including chesty coughs. It is the only All In One product available in a hot drink format, so the Hibernators among us can curl up with a mug, comforted in the knowledge that they are drinking the most complete remedy available from Lemsip to alleviate all their symptoms, while watching their favourite daytime TV programmes.î

Whatís On TV?
So what are these secret daytime TV addicts watching when hibernating at home? The Lemsip Max AIO research has revealed some interesting viewing habits. Male Hibernators (21%) are not far behind their female counterparts (35%) in their enthusiasm for watching daytime TV with some revealing choices. Surprisingly Loose Women features in their top 10, with one in ten (9%) men making a point of tuning in when off work with a cold or flu.

Men also seem to take this time off as an opportunity to catch up on soap operas - a fact that they wonít be admitting to when back at work - with Hollyoaks, Neighbours and Murder She Wrote all featuring high on their list of favourite daytime programmes.

Top of the Pops
The top TV choice for the UKís Hibernators is Deal or No Deal, with a quarter (24%) becoming avid viewers.

In second place is the Jeremy Kyle Show (23%), which is a firm favourite among women (30%).

These are closely followed by:

A Place In The Sun (21%)
This Morning (20%)
Bargain Hunt (19%)
Loose Women (19%)
Countdown (16%)
Neighbours (16%)
Hollyoaks (14%)
Murder She Wrote (14%)

Vishal Kalia continued: ìOur research has identified that many Hibernators choose to stay at home to prevent the spread of cold and flu germs around their workplace. However, a lot of them clearly want to make the most of this time so rather than sleeping they choose to indulge in their secret pleasure of daytime TV viewing!

ìHowever Hibernators choose to spend their time at home, weíre sure that Lemsip Max All In One Lemon will be a welcome cold and flu remedy for them, providing the first maximum strength, ëone stopí hot drink option for treating all their symptoms.î

Available in packs of 4, 5 and 10 sachets, Lemsip Max All In One Lemon is the only max strength cold and flu remedy available in a hot drink format that combines the necessary ingredients to treat ALL major cold and flu symptoms, including chesty coughs. Always read the leaflet.
