Senior HR Strategist to Play Key Role in Next Phase of Companyís Growth and Global Expansion, Bolstering its Commitment to Retaining and Attracting Top Talent

Phase Forward, a provider of data management solutions for clinical trials and drug safety, today announced the appointment of Russell J. Campanello as senior vice president, Human Resources and Administration. Renowned for his expertise on the strategic role of human resources in business, Campanello brings to the position more than 25 years of industry experience and will be responsible for all human resources (HR) and organizational development activities. Campanelloís skills are an ideal match with the companyís commitment to its existing workforce and plans for growth, underscored by its current expectation that it will add significantly to its employee base in the coming years.

Campanello previously served as the senior vice president of HR and Marketing at Keane, Inc., a nearly $1 billion business process and information technology consulting firm with more than 10,000 employees worldwide. At Keane, Campanello was responsible for leading the selection, development and retention of the highly specialized global workforce, and directing the companyís investments in advertising, branding, public relations, direct and online communications and sales support programs.

ìScaling our organization globally to effectively manage growth is a critical priority,î said Bob Weiler, Phase Forward President and CEO. ìMeeting this goal requires committed employees who understand their role in and value to the organization. Russís unique skill set will help ensure that we continue to invest heavily in our current employees, while building on that effort to attract a new generation of talent. Weíre thrilled to add him to the team.î

ìWhat impressed me most about Phase Forward is its ambition to be a truly great employer ñ a destination workplace. The companyís positive impact on the life sciences industry and its customers around the world is no doubt thanks to its dedicated and commited workforce. This achievement is underscored by its strong corporate culture and employee-centric, work/life balance programs and, as a result, a current voluntary turnover rate of less than ten percent,î said Campanello. ìI am proud to be joining an organization that so clearly values the contribution of its employees, and is commited to investing in its global workforce.î

Prior to Keane, Campanello held senior HR roles at NerveWire, a management consulting and systems integration firm, and Genzyme Corp., one of the worldís leading biotechnology companies with more than 9,500 employees.

Earlier in his career, he spent nine years as vice president of HR at Lotus Development Corp., where he developed a number of progressive programs that earned Lotus recognition as one of Americaís best companies at which to work, and as one of Working Mothersí Top 100 best employers for women. His visionary work at Lotus also landed him an Upside Magazine Human Resources Executive of the Year award. He was also recently named as one of the 25 workplace visionaries of the past 75 years by Workforce Magazine, and to HR Magazineís prestigious ì50 for Historyî listing, which recognizes 50 outstanding individuals for their significant and lasting impact on HR management. Campanello attended Suffolkís Executive MBA program, and holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of Lowell.

Campanello is scheduled to begin in his new role at Phase Forward by the end of April 2008.
