We've all heard the phrase don't judge a book by its cover but it seems rash literary judgements will soon to be a thing of the past. The first ever book trailers have been produced in the UK giving three forthcoming books the star studded, big screen treatment. The selected books are Small World written by Matt Beaumont, The Monsters of Templeton from the author Lauren Groff and The Outcast from novelist Sadie Jones.
In the same way that the film industry draws its audiences through condensed trailers, the Book Video Awards (BVA) could change the way we choose to purchase books. Developed as an initiative by book retailer Play.com, these 90-second previews have thrilled authors who have been able to see their book translated to screen before they've even signed over the rights for a full-length feature.
Could this be the most revolutionary thing to happen to the literary world?
