Gorillabox, the fully managed mobile TV enabler, foresees a skills crisis in the mobile content development industry. The company is looking for developers with the right skills to meet the predicted demand for mobile TV and mobile content development before the lack of trained workers affects the burgeoning mobile industry.
According to Juniper Research, broadcast mobile TV is set to reach revenues of $11.7 billion globally by 2011. For this to happen, the workers with the right skills need to be available.
ìWhile many have been slow to embrace mobile TV, itís certainly picking up, and analysts predict consumer demand will continue to grow,î says Christian Harris, founder and CEO of Gorillabox. ìIn order to match this forecasted growth, we need to encourage more mobile developers to hone their skills to be able to offer our services to operators and brand owners. At the moment weíre seeing a lack of young skilled recruits, and this will become an issue with time.î
Gorillabox is looking to recruit junior and senior software developers to create and maintain mobile platforms. These developers need to have experience in the mobile industry as well as in engineering or telecom-related industries.
ìWeíre keen to take on young recruits and train them up, however, the initial coding and user interface design skills have to be there,î Harris continued. ìOnly by raising awareness of the looming skills crisis will companies sit up and take notice, and encourage mobile developers to expand their skills to meet the growing demand.î
