IrishJobs.ie, Irelandís number 1 recruitment website, today marked Work Life Balance Day 2008 February 29, stating that work life balance arrangements will sustain a skilled, diverse and productive workforce. Valerie Sorohan, Marketing Manager at IrishJobs.ie commented: ìMore and more jobseekers are seeking benefits other than money including flexible working practices. A well run business will offer packages that incorporate work life balance arrangements in order to keep good employees.î

She continued: ìThe introduction of work life balance arrangements in companies of all sizes is a key factor in the retention of skilled workers and in maintaining strong levels of productivity.î

Sorohan pointed to a recent IrishJobs.ie survey which found that already half of those seeking a new job in 2008 have applied for a new position. Confidence among jobseekers was high with 70 per cent saying they are confident of finding a good position elsewhere. Significantly, 74 per cent of workers surveyed by IrishJobs.ie said that greater flexibility in work is crucial.

IrishJobs.ie has seen record levels of traffic and job applications made through the website this January. Sorohan commented, ìJanuary is typically a busy month for jobseekers and this year has been exceptionally active for the IrishJobs.ie website.

Employers need to look at flexible working arrangements and in turn will reap the benefits of increased loyalty and happier, more productive employeesî

She continued: ìIrishJobs.ie has an interest in the pressing issues affecting all jobseekers in both the workplace and socially. On site we provide a Work Life Coach for jobseekers with the aim of providing work life balance support. This service is free.î
