Is Internet Executive Recruiting Working?

By Allan Schweyer, Executive Director & SVP Global Research, Human Capital Institute

In 2004, I wrote an article entitled: Is Internet Recruiting Working? Back then, it was a very valid question, after all, DBM had just released a study saying that only about 6% of Americans found their jobs online in 2003. Without a doubt, the use of online recruiting had risen dramatically since 2003, almost a decade after the first online job boards were introduced. Given the hundreds, if not thousands of job boards online, my question then was ìWhy arenít more people finding work using the Internet?î

Today the question needs revision. Online recruiting has more than come of age, in fact it is evolving rapidly to include social networking tools and even virtual worlds. Today, almost everyone knows someone who found their job online. But what about executives and other highly paid professionals? As organizations, we continue to use executive search firms as much or more than ever. Is online recruiting working for executive acquisition?

The Human Capital Institute (HCI) is conducting a research study on Executive Recruiting Services. As part of this study, we would greatly appreciate your participation in a short survey to better understand your online acquisition practices for executives and highly paid professionals. We want to understand your preferences and hear your ideas. We want to know what you use, what you like and how you would improve online executive recruiting services.

In recognition of your time, we are pleased to offer you a copy of the published report so that you can compare your practices and preferences with hundreds of your counterparts from around the world. This report will not be made publicly available, nor will it be for sale. Only our client and our survey respondents will see the results.

The survey should take approximately 20 minutes to complete. Your responses will be anonymous and confidential.

Thank you for taking part!
