Keep up to date with the latest changes in employment law

.

National law firm Keoghs is holding a seminar to keep bosses up to date on the latest changes in employment law.

The event, ìBad, Useless, Sick and Unwantedî, will be held at the firmís Bolton headquarters (J6, M61) on Tuesday, March 6 at 3.30pm and attendance is free.

Kevin McKenna, head of employment at Keoghs said: ìDismissal is a serious matter that needs careful handling, and getting it wrong has serious consequences for unwary employers.

ìThe changing nature and increasing complexity of employment legislation over the past few years has proved costly to businesses, and there are more significant developments on the way.

ìComplaints to employment tribunals have risen sharply over recent years and so too has the maximum amount a tribunal can award in a normal unfair dismissal case, which currently stands at over 70,000. As well as this, new types of claim are emerging all the time.

ìIt is vital for employers to be aware of the law to avoid putting themselves and their businesses at serious risk.î

The seminar will provide employers with an overview of the legislation relating to dismissals, outline fair and prohibited reasons for dismissal, detail the procedures involved and demonstrate the law through relevant case studies.
