Dartford Borough Council is the first UK council to fully outsource its HR and payroll function, enabling it to meet government efficiency targets. Northgate HR will now manage the associated processes, saving an estimated 50,000 per year, and providing a more efficient and effective service to employees.
The first payroll run for Dartford Councilís 400 employees is scheduled for April, underpinned by ResourceLink, Northgate HRís fully integrated HR and payroll solution. All HR functions including recruitment, absence management and employee retention have been outsourced to Northgate HR since October 2007.
ìBy outsourcing all HR and payroll weíre able to take advantage of Northgate HRís expertise and vast experience in the area ñ itís a fantastic bank of knowledge weíd never have been able to replicate in-house,î said Steve Brooks, Head of Finance and Resources at Dartford Borough Council. ìWe started to review our options to provide a better HR service to our internal customers and soon realised that the Northgate offer would transform the way we provide the service at a lower cost. It quickly became obvious that we should include payroll in the deal.î
