Euro London Appointments, the specialist mlti lingual recruiter has teamed up with CILT (The National Centre for Languages) to become the new sponsor for the Business Language Prize at the annual European award for Languages for both 2007 and 2008.
This is an ideal way for Euro London to demonstrate its commitment to the promotion of language learning in the UK as CILTíS sole aim is to promote greater national capability in languages. The European Award for Languages is a Europe-wide initiative supported by the European Commission which recognises projects that demonstrate an innovative effective approach to the learning of languages.
Euro London awarded the 2007 Business Language Prize, a cheque for 1000, to a project that really did highlight the link between business needs and language learning.
The project included a ëlittle linguistí event in which key stage two pupils took part in language activities delivered by sixth formers and local business ambassadors and the ëlanguage 4 ladsí programme where year 8 boys could visit local universities, take part in workshops and talk to the business ambassadors. Students were shown in fun ways that language learning is interesting and enjoyable but that it does relate closely to job prospects as well.
Euro London is also working with CILT and the London Regional Language Network in the Business Language Champions project, in which they are teaming up with Lambeth Academy, a secondary school which has had Government funding to become a specialist language academy. Euro London will offer mentoring activities to a group of Year 10 students studying the Certificate of Business Language Competence in German. Activities will include career presentations, CV advice and work experience in the Euro London office. These initiatives will help truly establish Euro London as a company that is dedicated to promoting language learning ñ a real language ambassador.
