Employees of insurance intermediary Kwik-Fit Insurance have taken advantage of the 1,000 strong workforce at the business to join in with the worldwide trend of online auctioning.
KFIís new online auction site nicknamed ëK-bayí has taken the company by storm allowing employees from all areas of the business to buy and sell collectables, appliances, computers, furniture, equipment and even cars to other members of staff.
Kwik-Fit Insurance is thought to be amongst the first employers in the country to not only encourage this sort of activity but to give staff a bespoke auction site at work. Since the launch of the unique scheme in October the site has seen over 30,000 hits and over 250 items bought and sold highlighting the resounding success of the service.
Martin Oliver, Managing Director who has himself had a peek through the listings on the site said: ìAt Kwik-Fit Insurance, we invest heavily in our people creating a community through social events, charity fundraising, sales incentives and services like our new auction site.î
ìBefore ëk-bayí was introduced, there were large pinboards posted around the company which were untidy and often not very up to date so the new online service has been a big improvement.î
ìAs Scotlandís Employer of the Year 2007 (named by the National Business Awards for Scotland) I am delighted to see that once again we are at the fore of employee benefits and even more thrilled to see our people communicating and taking advantage of the services on offer.î
Claire Emans is just one employee to have used the new site. Claire from Coatbridge sold her car on ëK-bayí following her success in qualifying for a company car. Claire said:
ìK-bay couldnít have been launched at a better time, itís kept up-to-date and people are posting some fantastic items up there. Selling my car was easy and hassle free and I was able to meeting the buyer quickly to arrange payment and delivery.î
ìItís great to know that the person who has bought from you or sold to you works in the same place so thereís no scams or dodgy dealing - just genuine items to bid on.î
ìThere are many benefits to working for such a big firm - a service like ëK-bayí is just one of them. I always log on to see whatís on offer and have a few more items in mind to put on ñ with 1,000 people regularly viewing the listings ñ my collectables will be bought up in no time at all!î
