BackgroundChecking.com launches Veriscan

BackgroundChecking.com, an Experian company, has launched VeriScan, a new product in its range of employee screening and checking services. VeriScan verifies international identity documents and reduces the risk of employee fraud in UK businesses.

The VeriScan solution will offer a scanning service to log and track the security features of documents issued by international governmental organisations or regulatory bodies. VeriScan will provide information on the validity, integrity and status of documents such as passports, driving licenses, work and residency permits and professional certificates, with obvious advantages for security and compliance, to UK employers.

This move by BackgroundChecking.com follows a shift in responsibility for detecting and reporting fraudulent activity, making UK employers liable for ensuring they are not employing foreign nationals illegally, with penalties extending to the disqualification of company directors.

The duty is now on recruiters, who are typically not equipped to do background checks themselves, to undertake effective background checking before placing people within their organisation.
