Where six figure salaries were once as scarce as $1 million properties, today one in every 12 Australian workers are paid $100,000 plus*.
According to new executive job website, TheBigChair.com.au this figure has more than doubled in just five years, with the largest growth seen in Western Australia where one in ten workers earn $100,000 or more.
This compares to one in 12 if you live in NSW; one in 14 for Victorians; one in 15 for Queenslanders and one in 18 if you happen to reside in SA. In Tasmania only one in every 21 employees can claim a top paying salary.
From today, their needs are better served by a new executive job website. A new pillar of the Fairfax Digital news and classifieds network, The Big Chair, directly networks this growing group of top executive talent.
Fairfax Media CEO, Mr David Kirk, said, ìThe Big Chair exclusively serves this premium market, and will capture the interest of Australiaís senior talent. The website leverages the outstanding strengths of The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, and is a new avenue of growth for Fairfax Digitalî Mr Kirk said.
ìFilling senior positions has become an increasingly costly challenge for Australian businesses, executives are becoming harder to find given the historically tight candidate market,î he said.
ìEmployees who earn in excess of $100k are very specific in how they want to be approached. They donít want their time wasted and they demand a process that is as smooth and efficient as possible.
ìCurrent online offerings are of little interest to this market. Despite this, executives recognise the importance of staying in touch with the job market.
ìJust like property and investments, they want to know whatís going on, whoís hiring and they are curious about new opportunities.î
The Big Chair offers a time-efficient environment for Australiaís executives to discover where the highest paying jobs are, along with the latest news in business, management, finance and technology.
All job opportunities on site are senior in nature and searchable by salary or browsed by industry sector and job title. For executives at this level, where confidentiality is a prime concern, candidates can express an interest in a job without sending a CV. It enables personal communication direct from the executive to the advertiser without privacy issues intervening.
The website also utilises the intelligence from Fairfaxís top business journalists to provide the latest information on whatís happening in the business world.
