Careers and Jobs Live, incorporating the Thames Gateway Learning and Jobs Zone, is back at ExCeL in Docklands, for the seventh year. With a range of opportunities, individuals of all ages and backgrounds will be able to meet face to face with potential employers including those in full time education, graduates, undergraduates, overseas workers, the unemployed and career professionals at this free event.
With thousands of local, regional and national recruitment and training opportunities from over 120 exhibitors all under one roof, Careers and Jobs Live, Britainís largest Recruitment, Careers, Training and Education event, this year highlights particular industry sectors including Construction, Retail, Hospitality, Tourism and Leisure, to encourage ëupskillingí and provide fantastic opportunites within Europeís largest regeneration zone. Top name exhibitors at the event include Tesco, Avon Cosmetics, the Army, HBOS, House of Fraser, Transport for London, London Fire Brigade, JobcentrePlus Archant, British Gas, Travis Perkins, Peabody Trust, Thistle Hotels and the Royal Navy.
The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) has sponsored an exciting new ëTraining Villageí initiative at Careers and Jobs Live. The focus of the Village is to improve and ëupskillí the talents of young people and adults in London. The Training Village will play host to 20 training providers from a variety of sectors including Cadcentre UK, Hawk Training, City of Westminster College, Central Training Academy, Uxbridge College, South Thames College, the Community College Hackney and Smart-Training.
Radio station Choice FM will be headlining ëChoice Talkí, an area within the ëTraining Villageí. ëChoice Talkí will be giving advice on how to move up the career ladder with the help of the radio campaign, ëYour Choice - Your Life Changes!í Choice FM DJs, Kat B and Selena, along with other exhibitors in the Village, will be talking about their own particular industries and the positive steps that can be taken towards achieving the career of your dreams.
The Thames Gateway Learning and Jobs Zone once again aims to highlight opportunities within Londonís Thames Gateway, offering the regionís leading organisations the chance to meet some of the areaís most promising recruits. The aim of the zone is to ensure visitors of all backgrounds and experience levels are aware of the opportunities coming to the area. A selection of the companies you can meet includes East Thames Group, Elite Employment and Training Project, John Laing Training, University of Greenwich, Just IT, Kumari (Health, Wellness and Beauty) and Reed Employment. Also, exhibiting for the first time will be the new and exciting ìBoost!î employment initiative. Boost! is a new initiative at this yearís event and aims to help both young people and adults better understand the jobs and training opportunities which will be created as a result of the Olympic Games coming to London in 2012.
Back for the second year in the Zone is ëTalk Gatewayí with guests including the renowned Wedding Planner and expert for GMTV and AOL, Siobhan Craven-Robbins. Sheíll be offering visitors the chance to ask about her career, as well as providing an insight into the Event Planning industry.
Not forgetting those visitors with an interest in higher and further education, as well as training and apprenticeship opportunities, there will be many organisations including Universities and Colleges with a variety of programmes available such as Newham College, Brunel University, Fashion Retail Academy, Anglia Ruskin University, University of East London, Chartered Surveyors Training Trust, Havering College, British Horseracing Board, the New Vic and Capel Manor College, who will be bringing some of their furry friends along too!
The event also offers a number of freebies including CV advice, from a range of specialists at the innovative CV Multiplex, Career coaching, from Mayfair Coaching Practice, free seminars and show guide and also a free crche so the little ones can come too!
