FDM opens new centre of excellence to cope with demand for financial IT specialists

FDM Group PLC today launches its new London graduate training academy at London Bridge

IT training and recruitment specialist, FDM Group PLC, today launches its new London graduate training academy at London Bridge. This is the groupís second specialist centre in the UK that will provide training to fill the skills gap between IT graduates and modern businesses, particularly the financial sector.

The new school, based in the heart of the city at 55 King William Street, will enable FDM to double its intake of IT recruits annually. FDMís fast track courses will combine essential IT skills with broader topics such as Investment Banking or Software Testing. The venue is close to both the capitalís financial district and key universities with strong IT courses, such as Greenwich, South Bank and Westminster.

The company currently has over 150 Mounties onsite with clients, with a further 80 graduates recruited in 2006. FDM will be looking at graduating at least 40 Mounties per quarter moving forward, through its London and Brighton training centres.

Julian Divett, COO of FDM said: The demand for IT skills, particularly in the financial industry, is higher than ever before. Core processes continue to be automated and we see have seen dramatic shifts such as the growth of online trading. Our new London site will help us to keep up with sourcing, training and placing confident IT experts for our clients, filling the ever-increasing gap between university and the modern workplace.

FDM academy graduates, or Mounties, go on to placements with one of the companyís portfolio of blue chip clients, which includes HSBC, BA, Barclays, Reuters and ABN Amro.
