IRIS Signs Contract with Southeastasianet Technologies

IRIS Corporation Berhad has signed a contract with Southeastasianet Technologies MSC Sdn Bhd (SEANET) to supply E-passport Labels, E-passport Systems and Autogates to The Ministry of Interior, Kingdom of Cambodia.

SEANET in the prime contractor role was awarded a 15-years concession by the Cambodian Government and selected IRIS to be the end-to-end solutions provider for the project.

The Cambodian E-Passport project is a comprehensive implementation combining IRISí E-Passport Labels laminated into conventional passports, the IRISí E-passport Systems for enrolment, personalization and issuance of e-passports, and IRISí Autogates for automated border control. The IRISí E-passport labels and E-passport systems adhere to the International Civil Aviation Organizationís (ICAO) standards and deliver a multi-level identity management solution combining fingerprints, facial characteristics, biodata and signature capture, which is in line with ICAOís endorsement in the use of smart card technologies to secure the conventional passports.

The solution will include the IRISí proprietary state-of-the-art Electronic Identity Management System called IdenCraft. As a comprehensive and flexible Electronic Identity Management System, IdenCraft handles security, inventory, workflow, personalization and lifecycle requirements in a highly flexible and structured manner.

The project marks a new milestone for E-Passport deployment as the use of IRISí E-passport labels is seen as a first of its kind in Asia. The solution offered by IRISí E-Passport labels enables the insertion of contactless IC chips into existing passport books, which are either previously issued to bearers or held as unused inventories. This solution addresses the challenge faced by most countries planning to introduce E-passport but faced with the issues of existing large stocks of conventional passport books.
