TUC on unemployment fall

Giving a cautious welcome to the job figures published today (Wednesday), showing a fall in unemployment and increase in employment, TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber said:

Christmas will be happier for thousands of families. But it is too early to say whether the fall in unemployment is a blip or the start of a trend. The fall in job vacancies and increase in the number of economically inactive people who want a job are causes for concern.
