London jobs market tightens in March

The latest Bank of Scotland London Labour Market Report signalled a strengthening in the jobs market in the capital in March. The reportís unique íBarometerí rose to its highest level in sixteen months, and was well above the UK average. Staff appointments rose in March, but the pace of growth slowed slightly with consultants noting a fall in the availability of qualified staff, particularly for permanent jobs.

This added to upward pressure on wages and salaries. On an industry basis demand was strongest for permanent IT & Computing employees and for temporary staff in the healthcare sector.
