Magazine industry launches mentoring program using mentor scout technology

Mentor Scout, a division of Nobscot Corporation and a leader in mentoring program software, today announced that the Magazine Publishers of America has chosen Mentor Scout to automate its new mentoring program. MPA, the industry association for consumer magazines, will use the mentoring program to further its diversity efforts.

MPA’s industry-wide mentoring program will serve as an industry-specific educational resource and will foster career growth for both mentors and proteges via the paring of entry, experienced and mid-career professionals with peer, skip-level and senior professionals. Mentees will gain an increased understanding of the magazine industry, receive guidance and advice, and acquire access to networks and other resources. Shaunice Hawkins, Director of Diversity Development, MPA, stated, The primary goal of MPA’s mentoring program, Magazine Mentoring Exchange, is to reduce turnover and improve retention. Studies have shown that mentoring programs promote higher job satisfaction, increased production levels, and a better alignment with an organization’s goals and mission. Utilizing the Mentor Scout technology will allow us to reach our goal in a more efficient, user-friendly way.
