Online Hiring Results in Better Hires
By Frank Mulligan, Talent Software
Yes, I did know it all along but I am not going to say I told you so. We all knew instinctively that online hiring is better but now it has been confirmed by objective research.
The research shows that companies who use online job application systems get better quality candidates overall.
The research was conducted on more than 3,000 applicants for jobs in the Irish Civil Service. They looked at the people who applied when paper based hiring was used, and compared it to e-recruitment.
The results were striking:
- The number of older applicants (aged 30-60 years) increased
- There was no impact on the number of females applying for posts.
- The overall quality of candidates was shown to have improved.
Candidate scores on selection tests were higher for the online applicants than the pre-online applicants.
The applicants were more diverse.
Not a bad start for doing something that was just supposed to reduce paperwork for HR and make life less bureaucratic.
