Penny Streeter - founder and managing director of recruitment agency Ambition 24hours and campaigner for entrepreneurs in the UK - has been awarded an OBE in the 2006 New Years Honours for ëservices to womenís enterprise and to businessí.

Penny Streeter and her mother Marion set up family-owned Ambition 24hours in 1996, without investors or bank funding. Revenue is now 60 million, with no borrowings, and the company has featured in the ëFast Track 100í of fastest growing companies for three years.

Penny Streeter was ëCBI Entrepreneur of the Year, 2003í and is the ëManagement Todayí top woman entrepreneur. She is a regular commentator in the media and speaker on the conference platform on a range of issues of importance to entrepreneurs - in particular on the obstacles imposed by an ever-increasing volume of legislation in the work-place.

Ambition 24hours specialises in temporary recruitment and placement of locum doctors, nurses, home carers, social workers, teachers and lecturers. It was the first UK recruitment agency to offer a full 24-7 service for temporary personnel, according to Penny Streeter. The company has 19 branches nationwide for registration and provision of local positions for qualified staff for both short and long-term contracts.
