Following the release of Scottish Executive figures confirming that the large majority of Scottish graduates are choosing to pursue their careers in Scotland, Career Media Ltd - a Scottish publisher of careers related titles ñ are launching a brand new magazine aimed at supporting Graduates into employment in 2006.
Graduate Appointments Scotland will be a unique source of career information, as editor Michael Brash explains:
ìWith the news that four out of five graduates are choosing to commit their post-qualification careers to Scottish industry, there is no better time to launch Graduate Appointments Scotland. For the very first time Scottish graduates will have a useful, informative careers magazine packed with all the latest opportunities, advice and contacts.î
David Caldwell, Director, Universities Scotland echoed this sentiment:
ìAll higher education institutions are keen to do as much as they can to support graduates in finding opportunities once they have completed their studies. Graduate Appointments Scotland will certainly enhance what is already available to graduates and make sure that they have all the relevant information they need to make the next step.î
The launch of Graduate Appointments Scotland is also good news for recruiters, providing a unique mechanism for them to reach Scottish graduates, as Michael Brash explains:
ìGraduate Appointments Scotland offers easily the most effective platform to reach all job seeking graduates across the country. For the very first time recruiters have an environment that actually supports their recruitment efforts, while efficiently and effectively targeting the nationís brightest minds. To emphasise the point, we have commitment from the Scottish Executive to support the title as well as ALL 58 Scottish colleges and universities, disseminating close to 20,000 copies.
Scottish colleges and universities are working hard to ensure that each and every graduate receives the very best careers and employment information available. Little wonder then that the sector has heralded the launch of Graduate Appointments Scotland, as Tom Kelly, Chief Executive of the Association of Scottish Colleges asserts:
’’Scotland’s Colleges continue to strive to deliver the highest possible standards of service to our students. Integral to this is the desire to ensure that the broadest range of employment opportunities are available to them. We are pleased to support the launch of Graduate Appointments Scotland as another way of connecting our graduates with their future employers.’’
Graduate Appointments Scotland has also attracted support and backing from the upper echelons of Scottish Executive as Deputy First Minister Nicol Stephen weighed in with his support for the venture:
ìAccess to information on jobs and training is vital for any graduate. I would like to wish Graduate Appointments Scotland every success with their launch and I hope students across the country find it useful in progressing their careersî
