Harvey Nash, the international professional recruitment services and IT outsourcing company, today announced the appointment of Noorzaman Rashid, one of the UKís top public sector head hunters, to lead its public sector practice group, effective 5 January 2006.
Representing at least 30% of all executive search in the UK, the public sector is a key target growth area for Harvey Nash. The appointment enables the firm to harness its strength in executive search to meet the growing demand for private sector skills in government and the public sector, in line with the governmentís delivery and reform agenda.
Noorzamanís seven year track record in senior public sector recruitment gives Harvey Nash a unique advantage in breaking down the barriers between private and public/voluntary sector recruitment. Over the course of his career he has placed over 200 chief executives, board directors and chair people.
Noorzaman joins Harvey Nash from Norman Broadbent (part of BNB Resources Plc) where he was Managing Director of the Public Service Solutions Division and helped to build their public sector business. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Government and Public Sector for Europe at AT Kearney Executive Search.
A selection of Noorzamanís chief executive and executive appointments includes: the Department of Transport, The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, The Environment Agency, Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Trust, the Learning & Skills Council, the Home Office, Royal College of Nursing and Westminster City Council.
Prior to joining the recruitment industry, Noorzaman was with Local Government between 1988 and 1998. He worked for the City of Bradford Council (the sixth largest local authority in the country), as a Principal Organisation Development Advisor, and eventually left as Assistant to the Chief Executive where he had responsibility for corporate planning and change management. In 1992 he joined Coventry City Council as Head of the Chief Executiveís Office, and then Head of Corporate Management/Deputy Chief Executive.
Commenting on the appointment, Harvey Nash Chief Executive, Albert Ellis, said:
ìThere is significant growth potential in the public sector and this will further strengthen our market leading Executive Search business. We are delighted to welcome Noorzaman, whose expertise and deep understanding in public sector management will enhance Harvey Nashís core strengths in senior level IT and Executive recruitment.î
