Oxford company named as one of Thames Valleys best

Oxford-based recruitment company Allen Associates has been named as one of the top three small businesses in the Thames Valley

Oxford-based recruitment company Allen Associates has been named as one of the top three small businesses in the Thames Valley. The announcement was made by John Humphrys, presenter of Radio 4ís Today Show and one of the UKís most well-known and respected journalists, at the 11th annual Thames Valley Business Awards, held at Wentworth Golf Club on 24th November.

Allen Associatesí Managing Director Kate Allen, who herself was named Oxfordshire Woman of the Year in 2001, is delighted with the award. ìThis is something really meaningful to usî, she says. ìWhen the calibre of companies and people involved and the sheer size of the Thames Valley are taken into account, to be recognised as one of the top three small businesses in the entire region is extremely gratifying. It vindicates the open and honest approach we take to doing business and is the perfect end to a fantastic year for us.î

Earlier this year, Allen Associates was one of the first recruitment agencies in the UK to gain the coveted REC (Recruitment & Employment Confederation) Audited accreditation, which is the most complete and inclusive regulatory audit of its kind, demonstrating that an agency is committed to the highest possible standards. It was also runner-up in the 2005 Oxfordshire Business of the Year Awards.

Companies from throughout Oxfordshire, Berkshire, north Hampshire, south and mid Buckinghamshire and the Blackwater Valley were invited to enter the Thames Valley Business Awards. The Small Business Award, which was sponsored by the Federation of Small Businesses, recognised the most well-run small companies in the region. Judges considered how companies dealt with customers, suppliers and employees; how well they are planning and managing growth; and how innovative and creative they are within their field. Kate Allen was presented with the Award by John Humphrys at a special gala dinner on 24th November.
