Professor Drummond Bone takes the helm at Graduate Prospects and HECSU

Professor Drummond Bone, Vice Chancellor of the University of Liverpool, has been appointed as chairman of the Higher Education Careers Services Unit (HECSU) and its trading company, Graduate Prospects.

The chairmanship was held for the last seven years by Professor Bob Boucher, Vice Chancellor of the University of Sheffield. Boucherís successor, Professor Bone, is also president-elect of Universities UK, of which HECSU is an agency.

Commenting on his new position, Professor Bone said:
Bob was a first-class chairman of these two organisations, and leaves the group in great health. I look forward to following in his footsteps and working with the organisationís two boards and its executive team to help them face new challenges and seize opportunities as they arise.

HECSUís chief executive Mike Hill added:
Professor Bone will be a huge asset to HECSU and Graduate Prospects in the coming years, and his advice and support will be greatly welcomed. With top-up fees being introduced next year, issues of employability and graduate careers will continue to dominate the ívalue of HEí debate, and HECSU and Graduate Prospects - and its subsidiary the National Council for Work Experience ñ must continue to play a vital role in these discussuions.

Previous chairmen of HECSU have included Sir Alan Wilson, now the DfES Director General for Higher Education.
