December statistics from Monster.co.uk revealed that 2004 ended on a high with job postings in accounting/auditing and administration roles almost doubling compared to the same period in 2003. Other sectors showing a healthy increase include healthcare, engineering, advertising, marketing and PR, and Government. Following the trends of 2004 we believe 2005 will be íthe Year of the Employee, comments Joe Slavin, managing director, Monster.co.uk.

The first UK employment figures show that people in employment rose by 99,000 over the three months to November 2004, whilst the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.7 per cent. According to Monsterís December statistics, a significant number of sales and retail positions were filled, coinciding with the seasonal recruitment period. This indicates that we can expect even healthier ONS figures in February.
