After taking the plunge and forming her own HR and training consultancy, Olive Strachanís hard work is reaping real recognition ñ with a European-wide award to her name and an order book thatís bursting at the seams.
Olive and her Manchester-based training consultancy, Olive Strachan Resources, were presented with a European Federation of Black Women Business Ownersí (EFBWBO) award by Baroness Howells* at HM Treasury, London, at the start of November.
Olive Strachan Resources offers blue chip clients, such as Astra Zeneca, a range of H.R. services from soft skills to career counselling and coaching, delivered by her team of Chartered Institute of Personal Development (CIPD) qualified trainers.
The award is tribute to Oliveís success in building a unique training and resources company, with over 40 CIPD qualified consultants in the Northwest of England.
Olive continues: ìItís still tough for a woman to lead a training consultancy, particularly when you have two balance it with raising two children. But, when the work that you do and the jobs you have created over seven years get such praise, itís very reassuring.î

OSR has run a record number of training courses for clients such as The British Council, Greater Manchester Police and the English Institute of Sport during 2004. Furthermore the company has expanded its training resource library to offer clients one of the largest and most exclusive lists of training resource materials in the UK.
OSR runs courses and offers training resources on business issues from customer service to essentials for management including devising induction programmes for clients. OSR helps clients set up their own training resources and the consultancy also develops bespoke packages including an e-learning resource for the Mirror Group.
The European Federation of Black Women Business Ownersí (EFBWBO) is set up to provide a voice, vision, and access for Black Women Business Owners.
