THE University of Luton Business School has received great news ñ it has been awarded accreditation from the Chartered Management Institute, the leading professional body for management.
The first cohort of students joined the Universityís new Chartered Management Institute Executive Diploma in September this year and, having already been hard at work for two months, will complete the course in 10 months time.
Dr Leslie Davies is the Programme Director. He explained: ìWe started this course as a way of helping full-time workers gain a nationally recognised professional qualification. Students study part-time at Putteridge Bury every Thursday afternoon and evening, and within 12 months they will receive an executive diploma.
ìAll students receive automatic student membership to the Institute which provides them with a wide range of benefits including unlimited online access to the Management Information Centre and free copies of the Institute magazine, Professional Manager.î
Leslie added: ìThe University of Luton is only university to provide this particular course within the region, so weíre offering something unique for this immediate area.î
The first batch of students, 14 in total, comes from all around the region to study this qualification. There are representatives from Stevenage Leisure Ltd, Hertfordshire County Council, the Bedfordshire and Luton Community NHS Trust, and Benier UK Ltd, to name a few. The course is open to representatives from both public and corporate institutions.
Professor Paul Burns, Dean of Luton Business School, explained: ìWe hope that we will be able to offer other Institute programmes from next year, which will particularly focus on developing our in-company offering. We also want to increase the number of students we can take on the Executive Diploma course.î
