As latest figures show that 98 per cent of employers intend to maintain or increase their use of temporary workforce in the final quarter of the year, contracting specialist Nova is urging support for the vital sector.

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation’s latest JobsOutlook survey said eight in ten employers needed to gain short-term access to the key strategic skills of temporary workers, with driving and distribution skills particularly in short supply.

“There is huge demand for temporary workforce across the UK and a strong appetite from many employees for the flexibility provided by temporary contracts,” said Nova Director Marcus Green.

“We’re hoping for some positive announcements in the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement on the rules relating to travel and subsistence allowances, following the recent consultation.

“Any new legislation would come into effect in April 2016, so we have plenty of time to develop employment solutions, which are fully compliant and meet all HMRC requirements. With over 4.5 million people self employed in the UK, we must support them and the vital contribution they make to the economy.”
