Electrocomponents commitment to disability and accessibility recruitment goes from strength to strength as they join Evenbreak

Electrocomponents is proud to announce its partnership with Evenbreak, an award-winning job site and educational hub run by disabled people for disabled people.

This partnership marks Electrocomponents first steps to ensuring its vacancies are widely accessible to those within the disabled community at a global level.

As a £1.95 billion global distributor and FTSE 250 company, Electrocomponents champions and embraces diverse talent at RS Components (UK & Ireland) and Allied Electronics & Automation (The Americas). As a result, RS Component and Allied vacancies are advertised on the Evenbreak platform to attract the very best talent from within the disabled community.

To build on their continued commitment to creating an inclusive environment, Electrocomponents has also joined the Valuable 500 in their dedication to ensuring disability and accessibility is at the forefront of their recruitment and Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) agenda.

In December 2020, the World Health Organisation (WHO) revealed that over one billion people live with a disability globally, which impacts 15% of the world's population, or 1 in 7 of us. Further insights showed that people with a disability had been disproportionately affected during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Electrocomponents remains committed to recruiting global roles but, early this year, acknowledged a greater need for support for those that identify with having a disability.
As a result, they encourage anyone applying for a vacancy to inform them of what help
is needed to empower them to bring their best self to interview.

Additionally, their internal Employee Resource Group (ERG), LifeWorks, also supports their people who identify with a disability (visible and non-visible), care for someone with a disability, or want to be an ally. Electrocomponents is a member of the Business Disability Forum and is also a Business Disability Confident Employer.

Commenting on the partnership, Emily Garvie, Head of Talent Acquisitions, said, “We’re very excited to be working with Evenbreak. Our partnership with them sets us up brilliantly to share opportunities and showcase our inclusive culture that exists here at Electrocomponents.

Our culture enables our employees to bring their best selves to work every day and have meaningful careers across our group. We know that potential employees with disabilities will have amazing careers with us and working with Evenbreak will allow us to bring that to life.”

Founder and Director of Evenbreak, Jane Hatton said, “Evenbreak is delighted to be supporting Electrocomponents in their journey to ensuring disability and accessibility are at the forefront of their recruitment agenda. The range of careers they offer will be very attractive to our diverse and talented disabled candidates”.
