Adzuna | Budget doesn't solve immediate skill shortage

As Chancellor Rishi Sunak delivers his 2021 Budget, Andrew Hunter, co-founder of smarter job search engine Adzuna, comments:

"The minimum wage hike is a step in the right direction, but it doesn’t solve the immediate skills shortages across swathes of industry and on its own will not be enough to get Britain working. With UK vacancies still well north of one million, we also need extensive measures to get people into roles as well as ensuring workers' wages keep track with rising inflation. Adzuna’s job search data shows that European job seeker traffic is still down 50% on pre-pandemic levels – so one solution will be to relax rules further and make it easier for European workers to help fill crucial gaps.”
