Workopolis and CareerBuilder.com Partner to Create Dominant North American Hiring Capability

Deal Involves Six of North America’s Leading Media Companies

Workopolis, Canada’s leading provider of recruitment and job search solutions, and CareerBuilder.com, the United States’ fastest-growing recruitment resource with over 350 newspaper and association partners and 16.2 million monthly unique visitors, have teamed up to provide their customers with market-leading cross-border recruiting capabilities. Workopolis and CareerBuilder.com will feature links to one another’s Web sites and sell job postings for one another’s sites to their respective clients in Canada and the U.S.

The partnership agreement links two powerful media co-operatives. Workopolis is co-owned by three leading Canadian media companies: The Globe and Mail division of Bell Globemedia; Toronto Star Newspapers Ltd.; and Gesca Ltd., the newspaper publishing subsidiary of Power Corporation of Canada. CareerBuilder.com is owned by Tribune Company, Gannett and Knight Ridder in the U.S. and features jobs from the classified sections of more than 130 newspapers across the U.S.

With its newspaper affiliations, CareerBuilder.com powers the career sites for more than 350 partners with over 1,200 Web sites reaching national, international, local, industry and niche audiences. The company features over 9 million resumes and more than 400,000 jobs from over 25,000 of the most sought after employers in the U.S.

Many Workopolis clients have U.S. hiring needs. We are pleased to be able to simplify their recruitment processes by providing access to the substantial U.S. job seeking audience available through areerBuilder.com, said Patrick Sullivan, President, Workopolis. CareerBuilder.com has strong brand awareness and a unique localized presence to be able to deliver the right candidates to our clients. Until now, U.S. companies that wanted to use a single integrated solution for North American recruiting, had to work with a weaker player in the Canadian market. Now, they can work with the Canadian
market leader: Workopolis.

CareerBuilder.com continues to expand on its offering to ensure we deliver the most comprehensive recruitment offering to employers, recruiters and job seekers, said Matt Ferguson, President and Chief Operating Officer of CareerBuilder.com. Our clients need to be able to recruit easily and effectively in Canada and we chose to partner with the company with the number one market share, workopolis.com.
