Firefighter, popstar, politician, train driverÖas children we all dreamed about the job we wanted to do when we grew up

Firefighter, popstar, politician, train driverÖas children we all dreamed about the job we wanted to do when we grew up. Thanks to lifelong learning charity the Campaign for Learning, three lucky winners will now get the chance to spend a day experiencing their childhood dream job first hand. To celebrate the charityís national awareness campaign, Learning at Work Day, it is running a Childhood Dream Job Competition to highlight the importance of learning and development in achieving individual career aspirations and organisational successes. To enter, individuals can log on to www.learningatworkday.com from today and say what job theyíve always wanted to do as well as answer a series of questions about their current career aspirations and achievements.

Anyone aged 18 or over can enter the free competition, which closes on 1 May 2007, and get the chance to live out their childhood dream for a day. The 3 winners, selected at random, will get the chance to discover the talents they already have, the skills they may need and the qualifications that could make their career dreams a reality. Anyone needing access to a computer or help to get online can call 0800 771234 to find the nearest UK Online Centre.

Linda Siegle, Joint Chief Executive of the Campaign for Learning explains, ëJob swaps and shadows are an increasingly popular and successful way for individuals to experience what is involved with a job or role they have in mind. We hope that our competition will promote the difference learning and development can make to job prospects and working lives, as well as inspire individuals to follow their career dreams, whether thatís a promotion, a whole new direction or simply learning how to make their current job more satisfying.í
