Vitalise recruits the recruiters!

Pure recruitment staff volunteer for disability charity

Staff from leading UK recruitment consultancy Pure Recruitment Group volunteered for a day in May at one of national disability charity Vitaliseís accessible centres for disabled people.

Four Pure staff members - Debbie Hills, Andrew Harris, James Limburn and Beccy Smith - travelled down from London to Netley Waterside House in Southampton, a Vitalise Centre providing short breaks for disabled people and carers, on Friday 4 May.

The volunteers were an energetic addition to the Centre. They helped in the Centreís gardens, assisted staff with serving the guestsí lunch and took them on an excursion to a local country park. One of the Pure volunteers, James Limburn, even gave a lunchtime bagpipe recital for the enjoyment of the guests!

Pure volunteer Debbie Hills said: ìThe day we spent with Vitalise was lots of fun. The atmosphere and their facilities were great. We are so glad we had the opportunity to show our support for their great work and also meet the people Vitalise help.î

Vitalise was chosen as Charity of the Year by Pure in August 2006. The charity will benefit from Pureís fundraising efforts in support of its work providing essential respite breaks for disabled people and carers. Pure hopes to raise in excess of 20,000 from the yearís activities. Pureís association with Vitalise begin with its sponsorship of the charityís Legends of Sport Celebrity Dinner last year, helping Vitalise raise over 45,000.

Chris Nelson, co-founder and Managing Director of Pure, said: ìWe are very keen to fundraise for Vitalise, but we wanted to show our support in other ways too. The opportunity for some of us to spend a day volunteering at Netley Waterside House was a fantastic idea. To witness the amazing work Vitalise does at first hand was a great motivator and all our volunteers returned even more determined to make our association a great success.î

Joanna Christophi, Vitalise Director of Fundraising and Communications, said: ìWe were very pleased when Pure chose Vitalise as its Charity of the Year. When they offered to volunteer as well we were delighted! Our volunteers always come away from the experience energised and nine out of ten want to volunteer again. We hope the Pure volunteersí time with us has spurred them on to even greater fundraising efforts!î
