University to show russian people MAnagers international ways

Russian businesses will soon be able to develop and implement international human resource practices without setting foot outside of their own country

Russian businesses will soon be able to develop and implement international human resource practices without setting foot outside of their own country. From this month, Nottingham Trent University will be running its Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management (PDPM) in the Russian capital, Moscow.

The course, accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) is the first of its kind in Russia. It will be aimed mainly at English-speaking Russians who have worked in management-level positions for several years and is already attracting Russian-based, major multinational enterprises, primarily from their human resources department.

The two-year programme will consist of eleven modules and be taught by Nottingham Trent staff in four-day blocks. The course will be delivered from Nord Anglia (UK) Plc in Moscow. In readiness for the course, Nottingham Trent has worked with Nord Anglia to create an in-house library dedicated to the CIPD programme.

Dave Doughty, Principal Lecturer for International Projects at Nottingham Business School, said: The demand for a CIPD award-bearing programme to be delivered by tutors from a leading British business school is extremely high. There is no comparable programme on offer in Russia and potential candidates are anxious to secure places.

He added: The huge amount of commitment and enthusiasm from the university, the CIPD and Nord Anglia has been essential in making this become a reality. We expect to take a first and second cohort of between 25 - 30 students.

Judy Whittaker, Director of Membership and Education at the CIPD, said: We have been aware for some time of the interest in and need for CIPD accredited programmes in Russia. I am delighted that our Centre of Excellence, Nottingham Trent University, together with its partner Nord Anglia, has developed a version of its well-established post-graduate diploma tailored for delivery in Moscow. We wish every success to the new members of CIPD who will be starting the programme this month.
