In the unlikely event that you are in San Francisco on the 23rd of May 2007, and in the even-more-unlikely-event that you might actually want to see me present on the subject of hiring in China, here is an event you might want to consider.
Itís called the ìMaking China Your Gold Mountainî and, put simply, itís a complete reversal of the usual conference format. It has the presenters coming from China to the US, and the audience staying in at home to hear about China on their own turf, and in their own time zone.
The basis of the event is that China is obviously the ënext big thingí (itís been that for 20 years) but that the HR practices are not the same as they are in other countries.
The speakers are all based in China and they will help you understand and avoid the barriers to success in China. The topics are broadly HR-based and include hiring, strategy, training, retention and so on.
The conference will be hosted by XMei International, a business consulting and development organization with expertise in Chinese business practices and their cultural impact. Itís their first event in the U.S. and they have managed to get a broad spectrum of speakers from industry, consulting and government.
