The Newspaper Society, the industry body for the regional press, has launched the second stage of a research project to evaluate the role of local media for recruitment.
A survey of 8,000 adults across the UK is being carried out by media strategy and research firm Human Capital and marks the second part of a major study of recruitment in both the public and private sectors.
The NS hopes the second stage of the project will give local and regional newspapers and their recruitment sales team a better understanding of their products in the recruitment process.
The data will be used by newspapers to promote the effectiveness of the regional press and their related online recruitment websites when pitching to companies and agencies.
The initial findings of the research will be handed over to the NSís membership in April.
The first stage of the recruitment research project, carried out by Ocean Consulting, focused on determining the efforts used by media owners, recruitment advertising agencies, commercial sector clients and senior public sector officials.
