Talentweb Recruit Company to go CarbonZero

Online recruitment company Talentweb have taken action to offset their carbon footprint to become a ìCarbonZeroî company

Online recruitment company Talentweb have taken action to offset their carbon footprint to become a ìCarbonZeroî company. The move will support energy efficiency projects in Africa, which will benefit the local community as well as the environment.

Based in Uxbridge, Middlesex, Talentweb have been working with co2balance to calculate the amount of carbon dioxide they produce. As they are an ìonlineî company and operate their business through the Internet, they have a low carbon footprint compared to conventional office based recruitment firms, at only 10 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.

Explaining the move to go CarbonZero, Mike Bansal the Managing Director of Talentweb said:

ìThe assessment of our carbon footprint showed that we are already a low carbon company, with most of our operations taking place online or over the phone. We purposely set out in 2001 to create a virtual business model thus eliminating the need for our staff to commute to offices, they all enjoy the 60 second commute to their home offices and by equipping them with the latest web based technologies, such as Webcam Interviewing, and we have a truly mobile and happy workforce who are doing their part to save the environment. However we were keen to take responsibility of the carbon that we do generate, and that is why we are working with co2balance to offset our carbon emissions and become a CarbonZero companyî.

To offset their carbon emissions, funds will be invested into projects in Africa that will see local communities receive solar and energy efficient ovens. These ovens either replace the firewood that they traditionally use, or reduce the amount that is needed. As a result they produce far less carbon emissions that would have otherwise been created.

ìWe are pleased to see that our move in becoming CarbonZero will benefit families in Africa, as well as the environmentî, added Mike Bansal.

Chris Skinner from co2balance said: ìClimate change affects us all, and the variations in weather patterns over the past few years are plain to see. Companies like Talentweb that take action to reduce and then offset their carbon footprint are helping to lead the fight against climate change. In addition to this they are also providing investment and resources into Africa, making a real difference to local communities.
