Leamington Spa based employee, customer and business publisher, Summersault Communications, who works for top FTSE 500 and public sector clients across the UK, picked up two awards for best employee magazine/newsletter for its Talking Points magazine and best customer magazine for Connect, both Central Trains publications, at the NX Communication Awards, which celebrate the achievements of National Express Group in-house public relations departments.
Picking up the two awards, Brian Jeavons, Summersault Communicationsí managing director commented: To win these award categories is testament to the teamís hard work over the last year in developing such highly regarded publications. These awards cap off a fantastic all-round award-winning year for us.
Commenting on the award for best employee magazine/newsletter for Central Trains Talking Points magazine, the judges stated: (We) love the A5 size, excellent features - not over elaborate in content, excellently captioned, very easy to see where the eyes should go, nice way of doing competition.
Summersault also won best customer magazine for Central Trains, Connect. Launched by Central Trains in 2006, as part of a new marketing initiative, this quarterly is distributed directly to the homes of passengers, mostly season ticket holders who have requested it, and at stations. The content is a mixture of lifestyle articles, such as days out and celebrity interviews, and aspirational features on local entrepreneurs, combined with updates on services. Central Trains wanted a magazine aimed at its frequent travellers, particularly young professionals, to generate customer loyalty, increase communication with customers by regular updates on service improvements, and to show appreciation to frequent travellers and valued customers. It is also encouraging more train travel by communicating improvements in service and showing places of interest in the region. The judges commented on this award by saying: It shows in an interesting way what weíre doing to improve the business. Thereís a nice use of photography, looks fun.
