Strong demand for IT and accounting staff in Scotland

Februaryís Bank of Scotland Labour Market Report points to a firm labour market in Scotland, with demand for staff robust and candidate availability tight. Wages and salaries continue to rise as firms look to attract qualified staff.

The reportís labour market barometer registered 60.3 in February, up marginally from 60.1 in the previous month and indicating firm job market conditions in Scotland. The index was broadly in line with the equivalent barometer for the wider UK economy.

Demand was strongest for permanent IT and Computing staff and temporary Accounts and Financial workers.
