The positive recruitment trend witnessed in the City last year looks set to continue into 2007, according to new research.
Figures from the Forum of Professional Recruiters (FPR) show that permanent placements in the City for finance professionals and others increased by more than six per cent year-on-year in 2006, Recruitment Consultant reports.
The figures were part of the FPRís monthly index and take into account the normal slow-down that occurs around Christmas.
2006 was a great year for City recruiters, said FPR chairman Tara Ricks. 2007 is already indicating a strong uplift in the number of placements with added fluidity to the market as the price of the dollar impacts on City bonuses coming into the frame at the end of January.
This may cause some unrest and speculation, she added, making this an exciting time to be looking for a new position.
Meanwhile, Robert Half has released figures showing that half of all employers in the City and the Docklands are looking to increase their numbers of financial services staff over the first half of this year, primarily because of business expansion.
